Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) – Care@Home Guarantee™

The Care@Home Guarantee is a new solution to an old problem. As we grow older many of us are confronted with financial and often family pressure to sell our homes to supplement our income and/or to finance our health care.

The Care@Home Guarantee uses the value of your home to finance your healthcare AND to provide you with additional retirement income – WITHOUT giving up your home.

When you subscribe for our Care@Home Guarantee, the title to your home is transferred to an Escrow Agent who acts on your behalf to ensure that you receive all the benefits of the Care@Home Guarantee. You continue to live in your home.

You receive a fully paid up permanent insurance policy from a federally regulated and licensed insurance company that pays all of the costs of an uncapped best in class level in-home care services program that provides you with the care that you need for life delivered in your own home.

You also receive a fully paid up lifetime annuity from a federally regulated and licensed insurance company that provides you with a guaranteed monthly income for life.

On your death the Escrow Agent transfers the title of your home to Care@Home.

In most cases yes. The Guarantee can be structured to cover your life and your spouse. This is referred to as “Life and Survivor” coverage. Of course, covering two lives instead of one changes some of the numbers, but it is not usually a problem unless there is a very substantial age differential.

This is NOT a reverse mortgage. This is not a loan. There is no debt. There is no interest. There is no limit.

A reverse mortgage is a loan. The senior borrows a fixed amount of money from a lender secured by a mortgage on their home.

If the senior runs out of money to cover their living expenses, they must sell their home and pay back the reverse mortgage including all interest – very frequently leaving them with nothing.

With a Care@Home Guarantee, you have a monthly income for life from the annuity and unlimited uncapped no cost care for life from our best in class care plan. The Care@Home Guarantee is a fully insured “Guarantee For Life”.

Home Ownership & Property Questions

The title to your home is transferred to an Escrow Agent. This agent holds the title to ensure the performance of our “Promise of Care.” You retain the right to live in your home for as long as you live. Title to your home is transferred on your death.

When you pass away, the Escrow Agent transfers the title of the home to Care@Home.

You are responsible for paying property taxes and maintaining an insurance policy on the property. We will pay the property taxes and insurance on your behalf and deduct the cost from your annuity payments. One less thing to worry about.

You are responsible for ordinary maintenance of the property. If you need help with that, we can introduce you to our family of home maintenance and landscape service companies.

If you need a new roof or a new furnace, we will pay for it. Capital items are our responsibility. Just one more way that we guarantee that you will not have to deal with surprise expenses.

Eligibility & Requirements

The Care@Home Guarantee is available to seniors (generally age 70 and over) who own their own mortgage free qualifying home.

The Care@Home Guarantee is not for everyone. It is a great solution for seniors who have a substantial amount of equity in their home. Our solution puts that “sleeping wealth” to work to take the worry out of your senior years and add to your income to support your retirement lifestyle.

A qualifying home must have a minimum appraised value and be located in our coverage area (initially in specified communities in California, Arizona, Texas, and Florida).

The minimum appraised value will vary depending on the individual details of the applicants guarantee policy, but generally speaking the minimum appraised value will be $2.0 million. Homes with higher appraised value will support a larger monthly annuity payment.

Financial Benefits & Annuity Details

The amount of your annuity depends on three factors and your personal choice:

  • Homes with higher appraised values support higher annuity payments.
  • The older you are when you subscribe, the higher your annuity payments.
  • The annuity payment will continue to be paid to the surviving spouse for life – so-called “life and survivor” annuity payments will depend on your age and the age of your spouse.
  • The annuity terms are very flexible. If you choose this option, the annuity will have a “minimum payout amount” or a “lump sum payment on death”. These options will reduce your monthly annuity payment.

Every single one of our qualified applicants will receive our highest standard of care, what we call the Care@Home Platinum Care™ program. Care@Home Platinum Care™ is designed by senior care experts to include every best-in-class service and service standard available in the industry for in-home care.

You will qualify for the care based on a needs threshold assessment defined by medical and senior care experts. If you just need a little support, one of our fully licensed and regulated care partners will provide with a care worker as you need them. If you needs increase, the care will increase. If you need 24/7/365 in-home care, then you will be provided with exactly that.

There are no monthly, annual or term of contract caps or limits. Whatever you need – you will receive.

No cost. No deductible.

Care is delivered based on a needs-based definition in your agreement with our insurance partner. This definition is based upon healthcare industry best practices. The definition may escalate to fully staffed 24/7/365 in-home care.

Your Care@Home Guarantee provides you with unlimited in-home care. It does not apply to care outside your home, in senior assisted living or nursing home facilities or to care in hospitals or similar facilities.

Safety, Security, & Stability of the Program

Your home is your guarantee. Title is held by the Escrow Agent to ensure that you receive all the benefits of the Care@Home Guarantee.
